The Little Book of Sideways Markets by Vitaly N. Katsenelson
This book was written shortly after the 2008 financial crisis. Unfortunately for the author the predictions that the market would be “sideways” after the crisis did not turn out to be true – the market has gone up steadily since then. But the investing advice in this book is good despite the market predictions.
The author is a value investor and in this book he covers his investment style and recommendations at a high level (it is a “Little Book” after all). He has an earlier book called Active Value Investing that apparently covers his approach in much more detail.
Vitaly is an entertaining writer and this book is an easy read that covers his approach to determining Quality, Growth, and Valuation for individual companies.
